Coach Nick Imperioli
1943 – 2025
For more than four decades, Nick Imperioli was the heart and soul of Mount Union baseball. Born November 5, 1943 in Mount Union, he graduated from Captain Jack High School in 1961 and earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in English from Shippensburg University. He taught English for 35-plus years, most of them at his alma mater, Mount Union Area School District.
As head baseball coach from 1973 to 2016 — 43 seasons — he built one of the winningest programs in District 6: a career record of 767-208-3, 25 league championships, 27 District 6 finalist appearances, 17 District Championships, and PIAA State Championships in 1988, 1993, and 1995, with two additional state runner-up finishes. Of the program's four state titles, three came under Coach Imperioli — all but the 2019 title, won three years after his retirement.
Nick was a devoted husband to Cinda G. (Knox) Imperioli for 54 years, father of Jennifer Komir, and grandfather to Mackenzie and Alexandra Komir. He passed away April 13, 2025.
"The Shakespeare of the Diamond" — his legacy lives on in every Trojan who wore the uniform, every teammate who became a friend, and every young man who learned from his example.
